# Restore server

[Restore server via Backup Console (ONLINE)](#gjenopprette-server-ui)
[Restore server using Acronis Boot Media (OFFLINE)](#gjenopprett-server-bootmedia)

##### Restore server via Backup Console (ONLINE) 

This procedure requires that the relevant server is available with "green" status in the control panel <https://baas.stwcp.net>, meaning the backup agent is installed and online

1. Log in to your backup account at <https://baas.stwcp.net>
2. Select the relevant server under **DEVICES** and choose **Recovery**
3. Select the desired date, then **RECOVER** and **ENTIRE MACHINE**

4. Click **START RECOVERY**
5. A final confirmation will appear, and you click **START RECOVERY** again

6. The recovery will run for a while depending on how much data needs to be restored (*the process will not be interrupted if you log out of the backup portal or close the browser*). 7. (Optional) Via **IPMI** for a dedicated server or **VNC** for a VPS, the server will look like this:

    Dedicated server: Follow the recovery process via IPMI. See: [IPMI connection](https://faq.servetheworld.net/myserve/en/dedikert-server/administrasjon-og-innlogging#koble-til-serveren-via-ipmi)
    Virtual server: Follow the recovery process via VNC. See: [VNC console](https://faq.servetheworld.net/myserve/en/vps/admin#vnc-konsoll)

8. The recovery is complete when you see the message below, and the server will reboot. #### Restore server using Acronis Boot Media (OFFLINE) 

##### **Select server type below**

- [Legacy VPS](#518c525fc50)
- [Legacy Dedicated Server platform](#518c525fc51)

1. Log in to the VPS control panel <https://cp.stwvps.net:4083/>
2. Go to **VPS Configuration** and change the *Boot Order* by clicking and dragging *CD DRIVE* above *HARD DISK*
3. Select Acronis\_boot\_media.iso in the **SELECT ISO** field
4. Click **SUBMIT** to save

5. Restart the VPS via the control panel and wait for confirmation that the VPS has restarted
6. Open the VNC console by clicking the **VNC** icon and selecting **LAUNCH HTML5 VNC CLIENT** (alternatively you can use another external VNC client)

7. You should now see the following screen, click **RESCUE MEDIA**

8. Make sure the **IP address** is correct and click **MANAGE THIS MACHINE LOCALLY**

9. On the welcome screen, select **RECOVER**
10. Click **SELECT DATA**, **Browse**, then **CLOUD STORAGE**
11. Log in with your username and password
12. Expand **CLOUD STORAGE**, select your username, click OK
13. Select the relevant machine and backup date
14. Tick **MBR/DISK1** and **BASIC/VDA1** - click OK
15. You will now see a recovery summary. Click OK to start the recovery.

16. Recovery can take from 5 minutes to several hours depending on the amount of data to be restored.

17. Recovery is complete when you see this message.

18. Go back to the VPS control panel, go to **VPS Configuration**
19. Change **Boot Order** (*HARD DISK* moved above *CD DRIVE*)
20. Select **NONE** in the **SELECT ISO** field
21. Restart the VPS via the control panel <https://cp.stwvps.net:4083/>

##### **Boot the server with Acronis Boot Media**

1. Log in to the **Dedicated server control panel** at <https://cp.stwserver.net:1500>
2. Select **Servers** under **Main menu** in the menu on the left.
3. Find the dedicated server you want to manage and click the **Server**.
4. Click **Operations**.
5. In **Operations Type**, select **Acronis Boot Media**
6. Click OK - the server will now reboot automatically

##### **Connect to the server via IPMI**

##### **Complete recovery via IPMI**

1. Click **RESCUE MEDIA**
2. Make sure the **IP address** is correct and click **MANAGE THIS MACHINE LOCALLY**

3. On the welcome screen, select **RECOVER**
4. Click **SELECT DATA**, **Browse**, then **CLOUD STORAGE**
5. Log in with your username and password
6. Expand **CLOUD STORAGE**, select your username, click OK
7. Select the relevant machine and backup date, then click *Hide Archives and Backups*
8. Tick the relevant disks/partitions - click OK

    Disk configuration will vary on dedicated servers. The example below is 1 x 500GB

9. You will now see a recovery summary. Click OK to start the recovery.

11. Recovery is complete when you see this message.

##### **Stop the Acronis Boot Media operation in the dedicated server control panel**

1. Log in to the **Dedicated server control panel** at <https://cp.stwserver.net:1500>
2. Select **Servers** under **Main menu** in the menu on the left.
