This is done via **email**, **DNS**, or **HTTP**. [Read more about this further down on the page](#domain-validation). ### Configure your certificate after ordering *This shows how to configure a certificate, for example specifying which domain name the certificate should apply to, as well as the contact information associated with the certificate.* Once the configuration is complete, it will be possible to retrieve the so-called ***Private Key*** for the certificate (only applies if you chose to create the CSR in the control panel). 1. Log in to 2. Click **Products** 3. Click **My Products** 4. Click **Manage** on the certificate 5. Click **Click here to configure your certificate** 6. Select **New Order** 7. Select **Server Type**. If you are unsure, choose **Other** 8. If you already have a **CSR** (Certificate Signing Request), you can paste it into the **CSR** field. If you do not have a CSR, click the **Create CSR** button 9. Fill in all fields related to the CSR. Click **Submit** when you are done. 10. Fill in the contact information and click **Continue**. 11. Before the certificate is issued, control of the domain name must be verified. - **Email** - An email with a link will be sent to confirm that you have control of the domain name. If the email address in the list does not exist, it can be created after the configuration is completed. - **HTTP/HTTPS** - You must publish a link with unique content (details will be provided once the configuration is completed). - **DNS** - You must publish a CNAME record for the domain name (details will be provided once the configuration is completed) 12. Click the **Continue** button 13. Configuration is now complete. Click **Back** to return to the product page for the certificate, **and remember to complete the domain control validation**. ### Verification of control of the domain name When **renewing** an SSL certificate, you must again confirm control of the domain name before the new certificate is issued. If you have not completed verification of the domain name, you can change the verification method at any time. Go to the product page for the certificate and click **Verification Method**. 1. Log in to 2. Click **Products** 3. Click **My Products** 4. Click **Manage** on the certificate #### Email If you have chosen email for verification of control of the domain name, an email will be sent to the selected contact address. It includes a link that you click to complete the verification. If you have not received the email, or you created the email address after ordering, you can click the **Resend email confirmation** button. You can also change the email address used for verification. Go to the product page for the certificate and click **Change verification method**, and select another applicable email address. #### HTTP/HTTPS If you have chosen HTTP/HTTPS for verification of control of the domain name, you must publish a file with a unique name and content, along with information on where it should be published. On the product page for your certificate you will be able to see more information: - **Validation File** - This specifies the path and file name, typically a text file **.TXT**. - **Content** - Copy the text and paste it into the Validation File. You can also download a copy of the file by clicking **Download validation file**. Once you have published the file, you can go to the product page for the certificate and click **Re-verify**. A request will be sent to the certificate provider and the process can take a few minutes up to one hour. If the verification succeeds, the certificate will be sent by email. #### DNS CNAME If you have chosen DNS for verification of control of the domain name, you must publish a unique CNAME record for the domain name. Go to the product page for the certificate and check the DNS CNAME field. Once you have published the record, you can go to the product page for the certificate and click **Re-verify**. A request will be sent to the certificate provider and the process can take a few minutes up to one hour.
